How To Prevent Opportunity Stage Override When Shopify Orders Are Updated

Managing data synchronization between Shopify and Salesforce can be complex, especially when dealing with order updates. One common challenge is preventing the automatic override of the opportunity stage with Salesforce when an order is updated in Shopify. With proper Shopify integration, it’s important to ensure your sales data stays accurate. In this blog, we will show how to prevent opportunity stage override issues in Shopify and Salesforce using the right Shopify integration setup.

Step 1: Log in
to your Salesforce account.

Step 2: From the App launcher, search for “HIC Sync made easy” and click on it.

Step 3:
Click on “SME Pro Features”.

Step 4: Enable the feature “Do not Override Opportunity Stage” by clicking on the toggle button.

Step 5:
Create a draft order in Shopify by selecting the product, then click Save.

Step 6:
Now, copy the Shopify ID from the above URL, search it in Salesforce, and then open its draft Opportunity.

Step 7: When an order is created in Shopify, the related Opportunity stage remains set to “Prospecting.” At this point, we need to update the stage name and click “Mark Stage as Complete” to apply the change.

Step 8: Now, we will mark the respective draft order as a paid order from Shopify by clicking on Mark as paid.

Step 9:
When the order is updated in Shopify, the related Opportunity’s stage does not change, but the updates we made in the Shopify order are reflected in the Opportunity as well.

Here, you can see Opportunity’s stage has not changed.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can easily prevent unwanted stage changes and maintain accurate data in Shopify and Salesforce. A well-configured Shopify Salesforce integration helps keep your sales pipeline stable and reliable. This way, your Shopify and Salesforce setup works smoothly without affecting opportunity stages during order updates.
