Continuing to amplify its social commerce game, Shopify partners with Youtube to launch Youtube Shopping on its platform.

Just a couple of months after Shopify’s tie-up with Tiktok, the leading commerce giant strikes again with its new collaboration with Youtube.

Clearly, Shopify realizes the vast customer base of these platforms and wants to tap them to enable merchants to connect with their audiences.

With the launch of Youtube Shopping, Shopify aims to reach out to Youtube’s 2 billion monthly users.

What’s driving the Shopify-Youtube partnership

Content being the center of all customer interactions has given rise to the creator economy. Creators are now selling products and establishing brands while merchants are creating content to engage customers. So, the lines between creators and merchants have blurred.

Shopify leverages the shift to empower merchants and creators to connect, build businesses and share stories with customers in a powerful and meaningful way.

Further, The launch of Youtube Shopping will enable merchants to integrate their Stores with Youtube easily and thus meet their consumers.

How Shopify merchants can leverage the Youtube Platform

Shopify merchants can leverage the Youtube platform to sell their products in three ways.

  1. Store Tab: Shopify merchants will have a new tab added to their Youtube channels that will display their selection of products.
  2. Live Streams: During live streams, merchants can now tag and pin products, while the picture-in-picture functionality will enable users to watch while browsing.
  3. Videos: Below the on-demand videos, merchants now show a curated list of products.

Also, all the product details such as images, shipping, and pricing will be kept up to date so that when the product sells out, it automatically gets removed from Youtube.

Apart from that, merchants will have the ability to track the performance of on-demand videos and live streams directly from the Shopify admin.
