In Shopify, every order is typically linked to a customer record to help manage order history, communication, and analytics. However, there are cases when an order can be created without an associated customer – such as guest checkout or manual order creation. This can directly impact how the data syncs through the Shopify Salesforce Connector.
In this guide, we will walk through what happens in Shopify to Salesforce sync when a customer record is missing and how Sync Made Easy ensures smooth handling of such cases for your Shopify Salesforce integration.
Steps to Handle Shopify Orders Created Without a Customer
Below, we will look at what happens when an order is created in Shopify without a linked customer and how this order appears inside Salesforce. You’ll also see how Sync Made Easy manages this process to keep your Shopify to Salesforce sync clean and consistent.
Step 1: First make sure ‘Sync Made Easy’ is installed and configured. If not, follow the User guide.
After this, install and configure the extension app ‘Sync Made Easy Pro’ from AppExchange.
Step 2: Verify that the “Order and Opportunity” toggle buttons are enabled from SME Settings “Object Setup” page.
Step 3: Create an Order in Shopify without a customer. Select the product and click on the “Mark as Paid” option.
Step 4: Click on “Create Order”.
Step 5: Once the order is created on Shopify without a customer, copy the Shopify Order ID.
Step 6: Search for the Shopify Order ID in Salesforce. You will notice that both the order and opportunity are created under the “REQ Account”.
Step 7: Open the REQ Account, navigate to the Details page, and find the Shopify ID field. This field will display Business Missing Account.
NOTE: The Shopify ID of the account depends on the customer mapping in the object setup. If Account & Contact is without a customer, the Shopify ID will be populated as “Business Missing Account”. Similarly, if a Person Account is selected for the customer and an order is created without a customer, the Shopify ID will be populated as “Person Missing Account”.
Conclusion
When an order is created without a customer in Shopify, Salesforce still processes it smoothly using default “Missing Account” mappings. This keeps your Shopify and Salesforce data aligned and prevents sync breaks.
With Shopify Salesforce integration through Sync Made Easy, even incomplete orders reach Salesforce correctly. So, try it today and ensure every order flows into Salesforce without interruption.
